--Introduction & Objective of the book--

As the e-learning industry continues to expand every day, and the methods and tools necessary to create and maintain content and infrastructure applications become more complicated there is an inherent need for these applications to interoperate and exchange data in order to better support the needs of learners and educators. This book aims to provide relevant theoretical frameworks and the latest empirical research findings in the area of e-learning standards
and interoperability. The main purpose of the handbook is to promote the discussion of and present specific solutions for increasing the interoperability of future standalone and Web-based educational tools. Further, the role and issues arising from the deployment of learning standards will be investigated. The ultimate goal of this publication is to be a scholarly edition suitable for practitioners and researchers in the area of educational technology with a focus on content reusability and interoperability.

--Submission Procedure--
Researchers and practitioners are invited to submit on or before April 30, 2009, a 2-3 page chapter proposal clearly explaining the mission and concerns of his or her proposed chapter.
Authors of accepted proposals will be notified by May 15, 2009 about the status of their proposals and sent chapter guidelines. Full chapters are expected to be submitted by July 30, 2009. All submitted chapters will be reviewed on a double-blind review basis.
