Call for Contributors for a work on the impact of the recession on poverty in the United States
I am looking for writers to contribute to a work dealing with the impact of the recession on poverty in the U.S. We are looking for individuals with professional/academic subject matter expertise on the impact of the recession in the following areas:
- Poverty levels/economic insecurity of particular demographic groups: including racial and ethnic groups, age groups, gender, geographical areas (impact by region of the country and by suburban, urban, and rural residence), level of educational attainment, prior economic status
- Access to credit
- The American Dream
- Impact in the U.S. compared to the rest of the world
- Impact on businesses, hiring practices, underemployment, unemployment, wages
- Foreclosure crisis
- Financial Security of families and individuals
- Comparison with the Great Depression
- Government benefits: healthcare, food support, social security, welfare/cash assistance
- Access to higher education
- Government responses to poverty and the recession: federal, state, and local levels, international responses
- Risk of double dip recession
- When will the economy be ?normal?
- Long term impacts: on culture and society, on the economy
- Political viewpoints on poverty and the recession
- ?freakonomics?: unexpected impacts of recession/increasing poverty/economic insecurity
- response of religious groups
- impact on societal view of poverty
Contributing writers will receive a by-line that includes name and professional affiliation, online access to the complete published work for two years, and modest monetary compensation (or a printed edition of the work in lieu of monetary compensation).
