Diane Macklin Wows Westover
On Wednesday, Westover Branch Library was delighted to welcome Diane Macklin, master storyteller, for her program "Animal Tail Tales."
Diane told stories about the importance of knowing words in other languages, about overcoming the fear of trying something new, and the value of thinking of others before yourself.
The audience was mesmerized by her high energy, interactive storytelling and her kalimba (also know as an mkira or sansa), an African instrument which she played with her thumbs (see photo).
Upcoming events for children at Westover include a showing of the movie Ponyo (rated G) on Wednesday, July 20th at 4 pm and "A Taste of Persia" with Najmieh Batmanglij on Wednesday, Jul 27th at 4pm. This program for K-5 will feature a cooking demonstration, storytelling, Persian dancing, and a cookie treat for each child in attendance. Free tickets will be available the day before the performance, on a first-come, first-served basis.
