College and Career section found in a separate part of the non-fiction stacks. Books that can help you navigate a transition to the job market, take a "gap-year," or prepare for college entrance tests, apply for colleges, and survive the college experience can be found at the very beginning of the non-fiction shelving with a
red stripe next to the label.
Think you want to explore another culture, earn some money or volunteer for a year before heading to college? - The Complete Guide to the Gap Year, by Kristin White, will help students and their parents alike feel more comfortable with this alternative experience. CC 373.129 WHITE
Maybe you would like to head straight into the job market. - 300 Best Jobs Without a Four-Year Degree, by Michael Farr, will give you an idea of job categories, specific job lists and training options. CC 331.702 FARR
- Knock 'em Dead Resumes, and Knock 'em Dead Cover Letters, both by Martin Yate will help get the job process on the right track. Both titles can be found at CC 650.14 YATE
And, then there is the daunting task of applying for colleges. - There are a variety of test prep books, such as Cracking the SAT - CC 378.1662 SAT

- Or, turn to Find the Perfect College for You, by Rosalind P. Marie. CC 378.198 MARIE
- Once you select where you want to apply, Peterson's Best College Admission Essays, and 101 Great Answers to the Toughest Interview Questions by Ron Fry, may help you get into the college of your choice. Respectively CC378.161 BEST and CC650.14 FRY
