Expanded Branch Library Hours Begin July 5
Arlington Public Library branch hours (except for Plaza) will expand with the new fiscal year, effective July 5:- Wednesday Mornings: Columbia Pike, Shirlington and Westover branches will open at 10 a.m. (rather than the current 1 p.m.) and remain open until 9 p.m.
- Thursday Evenings: Aurora Hills, Cherrydale and Glencarlyn branches will remain open until 9 p.m. (rather than the current 6 p.m.). All three branches open at 10 a.m. on Thursdays. The additional hours mean every branch in the Library system (except Plaza) will be open late three evenings per workweek.
- Sunday Evenings: Columbia Pike and Shirlington branches will remain open until 9 p.m. (rather than the current 5 p.m.). The two branches will match Central Library's Sunday hours. All three libraries open at 1 p.m.
Central Library and the Plaza Branch Library & Arlington Shop will maintain their current hours of operation.
The schedule changes and an increase in materials funding reflect the Fiscal Year 2012 department budget, as approved by the Arlington County Board in April.
