From Page to Stage: Aubrey Deeker - Oct. 4
Signature Theatre may be ?dark? on Mondays, but the lights are on at the Shirlington Branch Library for From Page to Stage. You're invited to join the Signature Theatre staff and guest artists as they sit down for a engaging conversations about the art of making theater on the first Monday of each month, from 7:00 - 8:00 p.m.
Programs are subject to guest artist availability, so please check monthly for any program changes.- October 4 - Conversation with Aubrey Deeker. A Shakespeare Theatre regular and veteran performer at Round House Theatre, The Folger Theatre, Ford?s Theatre, and other local venues, Aubrey makes his Signature debut in Ken Ludwig?s A Fox on the Fairway (Director John Rando was originally scheduled for this date, but has to return to New York this weekend).
- November 1 - Conversation with Joe Calarco. A multiple Helen Hayes award-winning director and playwright and a Signature Artistic Associate, Joe talks about his eight-year creative journey to produce the final version of Walter Cronkite is Dead: from an original cast of eight to an intimate two-character comedy.
- December 6 - Stephen Gregory Smith
- January 4 - No program - Happy New Years!
- February 7 - Popcorn and a movie: Sunset Boulevard. Billy Wilder?s original 1950 film features Gloria Swanson, William Holden, and actor/director Erich von Stroheim. This program will run approximately 2 hours.
- March 7 -Conversation with Sara Jaffe. Each season, Signature features one of their staff members involved in community programs. As Director of Development, Sara is responsible for raising the necessary funds that allow Signature Theatre to entertain you.
- April 11 ? Conversation with Michael Rosotto. A popular DC actor, Michael is appearing at Signature for the first time in Art. NOTE THE DATE: The Second Monday in April (due to Helen Hayes Awards!)
- May 2 -Conversation with THE COMMUNITY?S CHOICE! During the year, vote for the Guest Artist you would most like to have a conversation with in the Page to Stage series. The selected Guest Artist will be announced in April.
- June 6, 2010 - Conversation with Guest Artist (TBA) from Side By Side By Sondheim.
