Grab a Book, Make a Connection
Join us Sunday, Feb. 19 from 6:00 - 7:30 p.m. for Book Dating, at the Shirlington Branch Library. How does it work?Grab a couple of books you'd like to share: Previous guests have brought fiction, nonfiction, and books about favorite places or interests. One young man even brought a GMAT book, which he used to tell the story of why he decided to go back to school.
Who attends? So far, we've hosted folks ranging in age from their early 20s to early 60s. In January, we had 39 guests!
And then? Each book date will be timed at 4 minutes (we've made then a little longer, in response to guest feedback), allowing all participants an opportunity to meet and chat about their reading. Library staff will be on hand to keep things flowing.
Read the Arlington Connection article Booking Blind Dates. What happens next is another story - yours.Register for Book Dating by calling 703-228-6545, or in person at the Shirlington Service Desk. Registration will be available up until the start of the program.
Light refreshments generously provided by Johnny Rockets in Shirlington Village. A drawing for a pair of Signature Theatre tickets, donated by Signature, will also take place at the end of the evening.Book Dating is currently scheduled for the 3rd Sunday of every month, at 6:00 p.m.
