Happy 131st Birthday Helen Keller!


On Monday, June 27, the Aurora Hills Library will celebrate the 131st birthday of celebrated author and activist Helen Keller.

Keller was born blind and deaf and was unable to connect with the outside world until the arrival of her teacher and lifelong companion Anne Sullivan, who taught her how to communicate by spelling out words in her hands. She was the first deaf and blind person to obtain a BA and she went on to tour the world writing and speaking out for women's and worker's rights.
