Paws-to-Read is a Library program that invites elementary school aged children to practice their reading skills by reading to trained therapy dogs.

Parents can register kids for a 15 minute time slot by phone. Paws-to-Read is held at the following Library locations:

Paws-to-Read was developed in partnership with  PAL (People Animals Love), a local animal therapy organization, and is based on similar programs around the country.

The dogs are great listeners, and provide a perfect way for struggling readers to gain confidence in their skills. Program co-creator Julia says, "Dogs are a loving, nonjudgmental audience. If the kids mess up a word, the dogs don't care."
