Veronika Jenke - Ceramics at Central

Veronika JenkeThe major theme of this ceramic exhibition by Veronika Jenke is an exploration of closed or altered forms in the shape of eggs or globes and their variations.

All of the pieces on display were formed on the wheel using stoneware clay. Clay forms are first formed, dried and then bisque fired to approximately 1700º F making the clay piece hard and permanent. Once a piece has been bisque fired, then glaze can be applied. A number of pieces were decorated with wax resist. Each work explores a different glaze, texture or pattern that has been achieved through carving or diverse glaze applications. Through these diverse treatments, the forms offer surprises that are appealing to sight and touch.

Ms. Jenke's art will be on display at the Central Library through the end of September. You can also view samples of her work on our flickr page.
