Winners of the "Capturing Arlington" Student Photo Contest


This fall the Virginia Room, the library's local history collection, sponsored a photo contest for students called "Capturing Arlington." Our goal was to help document the changing face of Arlington and to insure that places which might eventually disappear would be photographed and become part of the community's historical record. All entries will become part of the Virginia Room's permanent archival collection and made available to researchers.

Selecting the winning images was a challenge - entries were judged not only on composition but also on the site/subject matter selected. First, Second and Third prizes were awarded in two categories - Junior (middle school students) and Senior (high school students).

The winning photographs will be on display on the first floor of the Central Library during the month of April:
