The Red River County Historical Society holds its 35th annual Fall Bazaar on Oct. 4 in Clarksville.
The event is filled with entertainment for all ages, and a wide variety of arts and crafts booths line the streets around the county courthouse.
Opening ceremonies are at 9 a.m. in front of the courthouse, featuring the Clarksville High School Band. Events are to be held around the courthouse from 9 a.m.-4 p.m.
Historical Society members will lead various guided tours throughout the day to the DeMorse Home, the Old Jail Museum, Miss Belle?s House and the Lennox House.
Entertainment includes Mamaratzi, a contemporary and Christian singer, 9:30 a.m.; Double R Cowboy Church Band, 10:45 a.m.; Blue Suitcase, big band and classical jazz, noon; Red River County?s own Twisted Whiskey Band, 1:30 p.m.; and Myra Rolan, 3 p.m.
The Red River County Public Library will host five Texas authors, including Reavis Wortham, Cindy Rice Holster, Martha Sue Stroud, Harold ?Pete? Norris, and Cyndi Lord. Book signings start at 9 a.m. in the library.
The Clarksville Rotary Club holds a fish fry cookout behind the Library Thrift Shop, the Hospital Auxiliary from East Texas Medical Center Clarksville is chairing the bake shop on the courthouse grounds and the children?s corner will provide entertainment for children of all ages. The children?s corner will be on the south side of the Edward Jones offices offering games, a bouncy house and other activities.
Several food booths will provide tasting offerings from hamburgers to turkey legs to hot tamales, just to name a few.
The Clarksville Rotary Club will also sponsor the 9th annual Red River County Duck Race down Delaware Creek at 3 p.m. Prizes will be awarded and ducks will be available for purchase at the Bazaar for $5 each or five for $20. Prizes of $500 for 1st, $250 for 2nd, and $100 for 3rd will be awarded.
Many Clarksville High School class reunions are slated during the bazaar including the CHS Golden Oldie Reunion for all classes before to 1963.
The Historical Society will have its new T-shirt commemorating steamboat traffic on the Red River, along with copies of ?Images of Clarksville and Red River County,? along with other items including copies of ?Red River Recollections,? T-shirts, tote bags, bookmarks and note cards featuring the Red River County Courthouse.
