Call for Proposals
We are all passionate about teaching and strive to engage our students to learn the knowledge and skills needed to be successful in the field of public administration. Yet, our teaching is irrelevant if it is not transferred into practice; if it does not impact how our students think and act. Our desire to better serve students is what propels us to try new teaching strategies. While it is critical to try new and innovative approaches, it is equally important to be systematic in assessing whether or not these efforts actually work?whether they impact student learning. Too often we assess areas for improvement using informal methods and traditional measures, such as student evaluation scores, which may not effectively assess the impact of a teaching strategy on student learning and professional practice.
We want to know about the innovative teaching strategies you employ and how you asses their impact on student learning.Proposals will be accepted that present strategies for improving teaching and learning, and measuring the impact of teaching practices on how students think, act, and engage within their organizations and communities. For example, submissions could include presentations on the results of service learning projects, particular instructional practices, or facilitation techniques. Proposals that examine innovative teaching approaches with measurable results regarding their effectiveness, positive or negative, are preferred. Submissions may include single paper presentations, panel discussion ideas, demonstration projects, and workshops.
