On Tuesday August 2nd, the Aurora Hills Library says Happy 111th birthday to children's author Holling C. Holling's!
Holling didn't start his career writing. After graduating from the Art Institute of Chicago he worked as a taxidermist, an anthropologist, and an art teacher before finding his true calling as an author and illustrator. He made the right choice as his title Paddle to the Sea was honored with a Caldecott Award in 1942!
