Ottumwa Public Library
The Ottumwa Public Library will complete the ?Smart investing @ Your Library? program promoting investor education on Tuesday, April 30, 2013 at 5:30 p.m. with a presentation by John H. Spitzer, ?Managing Your Wealth.? This presentation is open to all in the community.
Increasingly, employees bear most of the responsibility for ensuring their financial security in retirement. The presentation will provide a general framework for understanding how to create and manage wealth during your career, and outlines the most important concepts: asset allocation, the ability and need to take risk, liquidity, tax sheltering, costs, and the need to outpace inflation.
John is a Clinical Professor of Finance at The Henry B. Tippie College of Business, The University of Iowa. John has a Ph.D. from Duke University, an M.S. from the University of Iowa, and a B.S. from Stanford University. John?s work experience includes: Senior Economist at the Federal Reserve Board, Vice President at the Federal Home Loan Bank of San Francisco, Vice President at Fannie Mae, and Vice President at Salomon Brothers. John is also the Treasurer for the Eastern Iowa Angel Investors, LLC.
John has no affiliation with any investment product or financial services provider.
This presentation will be the final installment of the Smart Investing @Your Library series at the Ottumwa Public Library. In January a documentary was shown at the library, followed by a 6 week course on financial literacy taught by an Iowa State University extension instructor. The Ottumwa Public Library also received over $500 worth of library materials about investing for their general collection.
The Smart Investing @ Your Library program is made possible through a $72,438 grant to Iowa Library Services of Iowa funded by the American Library Association (ALA) and the Financial Industry Regulatory Authority (FINRA) Investor Education Foundation. Iowa State University Extension and Outreach is a cooperating partner in the program. The Ottumwa Public Library is one of 18 rural libraries in Iowa selected by Library Services of Iowa for participation in 2013.
