"Houses With Stories" -- Reminisce Society January 2014
Nothing makes a historic house more alive than hearing stories of the people who lived within its four walls, their successes and failures, their celebrations and tragedies, their children, their pets?and the occasional ghost which shares the home with them. Architectural historian Molly Naumann will relate stories such as these when she returns to the Reminisce Society to present her program ?
Houses with Stories? at the
Ottumwa Public Library on Tuesday, January 28, at 10:00 a.m.
As an architectural historian, Naumann travels the state, assisting communities and individuals with evaluation of historic structures and nominations to the National Historic Register, as well as educating adults and children alike about the remarkable buildings in their neighborhoods. In her travels, she often meets the owners of historic houses who want to share the stories of their homes with her. The ?Houses with Stories? program is a collection of Naumann?s favorite stories as shared by Iowans living in historic homes, and will focus primarily on houses in southeast Iowa.
Reminisce programs are free and open to the public, and are especially for those interested in Iowa and local history. For further information, please contact the library?s Reference Desk at 641-682-7563, extension 205.
