Cherrydale Reads "Post-American World" for September
The Cherrydale Branch Library's book discussion meets at 7:30 p.m., on the second Monday of each month. Newcomers are always welcome, no matter when you read the book! Ask about available copies of our titles at the Cherrydale circulation desk, or call 703-228-6330.
This summer and fall we will be reading: - May 10 - Olive Kitteridge by Elizabeth Strout. Winner of 2009 Pulitzer for Fiction. Publisher's Weekly wrote: "Thirteen linked tales . . . present a heart-wrenching, penetrating portrait of ordinary coastal Mainers living lives of quiet grief intermingled with flashes of human connection. . . . [T]he collection is easy to read and impossible to forget. Its literary craft and emotional power will surprise readers unfamiliar with Strout."
- June 14 - Pavilion of Women by Pearl S. Buck.
- July 12 - The Forever War by Dexter Filkins. National Book Critics Circle Award for best non-fiction book of 2008
- August 9 - The Known World by Edward P. Jones. Winner of the 2003 Pulitzer Prize for Fiction.
- September 13 - Post American World by Fareed Zakaria.
