Sunday, October 30, is the birthday of author Eric Kimmel.
Eric knew once he learned in Kindergarten what an author was that he wanted to write stories! 50 books, and several awards (including the Caldecott Medal and Newbury Honor for Hershel and the Hanukkah Goblins, and Sydney Taylor Book Awards for The Chanukkah Guest and Gershon's Monster) later he has certainly lived out his childhood dream. He writes about all of the things that interest him; old folk tales and fairy tales from every tradition, his Jewish faith and heritage, and even southwestern culture (he's obsessed with the Alamo!).
