Happy 73rd Birthday Donald Crews!

Thursday, Aug. 30 is the birthday of award winning author and illustrator Donald Crews.

From a very young age Donald showed great artistic promise and was encouraged by his family and his teachers to attend art school. His first title We Read: A to Z, started as a project for his art portfolio. His friends were so impressed they suggested he submit it to a publisher. His use of eye-popping color and simple, bold images won over readers of all ages and several subsequent titles have been awarded Caldecott Honors.

Celebrate Crews' birthday and back to school time with his vividly illustrated title, School Bus!
