Local History: Prohibition in Arlington, Nov. 10


On Thursday, Nov. 10 at 7 p.m. in the Central Library Auditorium, the Arlington Historical Society and Arlington Heritage Alliance will co-sponsor a local version of the PBS film series Prohibition, with a program entitled ?Prohibition in Arlington.? 

The program will feature a presentation by Arlington resident Garrett Peck, literary journalist and author of the recently published book ?Prohibition in Washington, D.C.: How Dry We Weren?t.?  Mr. Peck is also the author of ?The Prohibition Hangover: Alcohol in America from Demon Rum to Cult Cabernet? and a contributor to ?The Civil War Battlefield Guide? by Frances H. Kennedy. Garrett leads the ?Temperance Tour? of Prohibition-related sites in the Nation?s Capital, which has been featured on C-SPAN Book TV.

The program is free. Light refreshments will be served after the presentation.
