Photographs by Ann Thomson on Display at Shirlington
A series of striking photos by Ann Thomson are on display at the Shirlington Branch Library for the month of September. We asked Ann a few questions about her work, which is filled with texture and unexpected detail:
How long have you been taking photos?I began seriously pursuing photography while in high school. I was fortunate enough to have a wonderfully inspiring teacher with whom I remain friends to this day. Once in college, I decided to pursue a degree in Visual Arts (Studio) with an emphasis in photography. Over time, it's become a part of who I am.
What inspired these images?I create my photographs to inspire all of us to look at the parts that make up the whole. There are fascinating images all around us; it is only a matter of pausing to find them.
What are you working on next?My passion and continued work will be in finding those overlooked details that take on new life when captured and abstracted.
You can find more images of Ann's work on our flick page.
