Tumblebooks Arrives at OPL
The Ottumwa Public Library recently subscribed to a new service for the community called, ?TumbleBooks.? Through TumbleBooks patrons will now be able to go to the library?s website 24/7 and read children?s e-books, play learning games and have books read aloud to them.
?We?re really excited to have this new database available to our patrons,? Sonja Ferrell, Director of the Ottumwa Public Library, said. ?Parents, teachers and childcare providers will all be able to share this with any child and not have to be worried about what they are looking at on the internet.?
For access go to the Ottumwa Public Library website, www.ottumwapubliclibrary.organd click on the TumbleBooks link under Quick Links in the right hand column. Patrons wishing to go directly to TumbleBooks can use the url http://www.ottumwapubliclibrary.org/tumble
The Tumble Book Library is a collection of TumbleBooks (animated, talking picture books) with fiction, non-fiction and foreign language titles, Read-Alongs (chapter books with sentence highlighting and narration but no animation), TumbleTVwhich consists of pre-set play lists of a sequence of books and Tumble Puzzles & Games. Tumble Books are created from existing picture books which they have licensed from children's book publishers and converted to the Tumble Book format.
Patrons can also access TumbleBooks via any reading device that has an internet connection (for example: color nook, kindle fire, Ipads & Ipod touch users), our site should automatically redirect you to ?TumbleBookLibrary: For iPads and Mobile Devices?.
