Westover Mid-Week Movies starts 9/14 with Mr. Smith Goes to Washington
This Wednesday at Westover Branch Library we start a new 8 week Mid-Week movie series, called "Politics as Usual":- Mr. Smith Goes to Washington - Wednesday, Sept. 14, 6:30 p.m. Jefferson Smith is a small town idealist who answers the call to duty when he's unexpectedly named to fill a vacant seat in the U.S. Senate. NR
- All the King's Men - Wednesday, Sept. 21, 6:30 p.m. Based loosely on Governor Huey Long of Louisiana, Willie Stark shows how political power can corrupt even those with the best of intentions. PG
- Milk - Wednesday, Sept. 28, 6:30 p.m. Based on the inspiring true story of the first openly gay man elected to major public office. Follow Milk's powerful journey to inspire hope for equal rights during one of the least tolerant times in our nation's history. R
- Man of the Year - Wednesday, Oct. 5, 6:30 p.m. Tom Dobbs makes an off-hand comment on his late night talk show that he would be a better president than the leader who currently occupies the White House. A grassroots campaign conducted by his legions of fans finds him unexpectedly ushered into the Oval Office and forced to live up to his promise. PG-13
- Charlie Wilson's War - Wednesday, Oct. 12, 6:30 p.m. Replaces our originally scheduled film Nixon, which is too long to show in the time allotted.
- All the President's Men - Wednesday, Oct. 19, 6:30 p.m. True story of the Watergate break-in that led to the political scandal of the decade. PG
- W. - Wednesday, Oct. 26, 6:30 p.m. A look at the life of the 43rd president of the United States. PG-13
- American President - Wednesday, Nov. 2, 6:30 p.m. Widower Andrew Shepherd decides it's time to get back into the dating game, but there is one slight problem - he is President of the United States. He falls for an environmental lobbyist and is lofted even more into the public eye. PG-13
