"Tuesdays in the Garden" Lecture Series

Join local gardening and horticulture experts at the new Central Library Community Garden for our first Garden Lecture series, "Tuesdays in the Garden."

Lectures will take place on Tuesday evenings at 7:00 p.m., from July 20 - August 10. The Community Garden is located near Central Library's east doors, facing the tennis courts.


July 20 - Introducing the Garden
Don Weber, a research entomologist and lead scientist for the USDA Agricultural Research Service, will be "Introducing the Garden," a look at the basics of the organic garden at Central Library. Learn what you can plant in your own yard.
July 27 - Pests, Beneficials and Pollinators
Don Weber, research entomologist and lead scientist for the USA Agricultural Research Service, will discuss "Pests, Beneficials and Pollinators."

August 3 - Plot Against Hunger

Puwen Lee of the Arlington Food Assistance
Center (AFAC) will talk about the "Plot Against Hunger Program" and
the benefits of community gardens. Food from the Library garden is being donated to AFAC.

August 10 - Fall Gardening
Don Weber, Puwen Lee and local gardener Rebecca Halbe will discuss "Fall Gardening." Participants will learn about what seedlings they should be planting now for an abundant autumnal garden.
