All About Container Gardening, May 4 at Central

Central vegetable garden - work day Apri l4, 2011
We've turned over the winter crop to
prepare our garden for Spring
Join us Wednesdays 7:00 p.m. at the Central Library Vegetable Garden for our Spring Garden Talk series.

April 20 - Starting Your Spring Garden
USDA research entomologist and Library volunteer Don Weber and his garden experts will talk seeds, seed-starting, seedlings, cover crops and timing of crops.

April 27 ? Raised-bed gardens for Square-foot Gardening
Paul Adamczak will explain the system of Square-foot Gardening with our upcoming 4x4-foot raised bed on the patio next to the garden and the Central Library. This versatile system grows vegetables intensively so you can grow the most even in small spaces!

May 4 - Container Gardening
Container gardening allows for plants on a balcony, deck, or patio ? even portability! We will have several different containers and a discussion of how best to grow with them. Find out how ? and use that yellow Arlington recycling tub for growing some tasty vegetables and herbs!

Talks last 30-45 minutes with time for questions. Bring your eyes and ears and questions, and leave with a few free seedlings and some info on getting started with your garden this spring!
