Final Garden Talk: Planning the Edible Landscape
Our Garden-Expert Lecture Series continues on Thursdays at the Central Library Community Garden - please note that the remaining presentations all begin at 7 p.m. except for Sept. 16, which begins at 6:30 p.m.Here's the rundown:- Composting -- Aug. 26, 7 p.m. Master gardener Rebecca Mashaw shows how to recycle your fall leaves, grass clippings and garden and kitchen waste to enrich your soil. Help your plants and save space in our landfills.
- Bodywise Gardening -- Sept. 2, 7 p.m. Master gardener Rebecca Mashaw explains how to prepare your body for garden activities including the proper way to use tools and pesticides and how to reduce garden maintenance chores.
- Planning the Edible Landscape -- Sept. 16, 6:30 p.m. Virginia Cooperative Extension specialist Kirsten Buhls discusses a new type of landscape for your yard, one which can provide both beauty and food. She'll offer tips and hands-on exercises for moving from lawn to productive, low-maintenance landscape.
The garden is located near Central's east side doors facing the tennis courts.
